High-quality climate education helps people understand, support, and act on climate solutions.

Public understanding is critical for effective climate action, yet many people still have limited knowledge of climate change and the policies designed to address it. Evidence shows that well-designed climate education can make a meaningful difference.

When teachers receive high-quality training, both they and their students develop a better understanding of climate science and policy, feel more confident discussing these issues, and become more supportive of effective climate measures. Improved knowledge can also encourage people to reflect on their own carbon-intensive behaviours and make more informed choices.

Because schools reach future voters, workers, and decision-makers, they provide a powerful way to build climate literacy across society. Therefore, climate education is essential to school curricula and it is important to invest in equipping teachers with the knowledge and resources needed to deliver it effectively. Better climate education today can help build stronger public support for climate action tomorrow.
