The economic effects of immigration

This lecture series brings together renowned international scholars to present state-of-the-art research on cross-border labour mobility and related fields. Topics covered include the drivers of migration and commuting flows; the political economy of immigration laws and policies; the economic impacts of mobility on origin and destination countries; effects on productivity, wages, and income inequality; citizenship and integration policies; links between migration, trade, foreign direct investment, and technology diffusion; as well as the political and cultural consequences of cross-border flows. Selected for their leading contributions to the literature and frequent publications in top academic journals, invited speakers offer cutting-edge perspectives on methods and findings in their areas of expertise. The series fosters innovative research ideas and strengthens Luxembourg’s position at the frontier of migration and mobility research.

European Institute on Economics and the Environment
Cristina is Director of the research division on Sustainable Earth Modelling Economics (SEME) at EIEE, where she also leads the research area on Human Migration. She holds a DPhil in Economics from the University of Sussex (UK), a PhD in Economics from the Università degli Studi di Milano (Italy), and an MA in Development Economics from the University of Sussex. She has extensive experience in internationally funded research and coordinated the H2020 project PENNY on psychological, social, and financial barriers to energy efficiency. From 2007 to 2018, she was a senior researcher at Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM). Cristina is an adjunct professor at the Graduate School in Public Economics (DEFAP) and has taught at several universities in Italy and abroad. Her research focuses on applied econometrics, migration economics, and energy economics, with publications in leading international journals.
