About REC
The LISER Research Ethics Committee (REC) has been in existence since autumn 2019. Its main purpose is to conduct ethical reviews of project proposals and, when necessary, of ongoing projects carried out by LISER staff. Upon request, the REC also provides consultative advice on ethical matters and serves as an interlocutor for staff working on ethically sensitive projects.
REC members are nominated by the CEO of LISER for a maximum term of six years.
The REC reports to the CEO but operates as an independent body.
The committee is composed of eight voting members (three external and five internal) and is supported by a permanent secretariat.
