LISER Policy Lab has released a new Policy Brief, drawing on SHARE-Luxembourg (Survey of Health and Retirement in Europe) data to examine how people living with dementia are supported in Luxembourg and how population ageing is expected to increase future care needs.
The study explores family caregiving, professional support services, social isolation and emotional well-being among older adults with dementia. The findings show that dementia care still relies heavily on informal family networks, while demand for coordinated support services is expected to rise sharply in the coming decades. The Policy Brief highlights the importance of long-term care planning, caregiver support, prevention strategies and social inclusion policies in an ageing society.
