Observatoire de l'Habitat

In 2003, the Observatoire de l’Habitat (Housing Observatory) was established within the Housing Department of the Ministère des Classes moyennes, du Tourisme et du Logement, to produce the data necessary for housing policy planning and to inform the public on housing-related issues.

Since then, its objective has been twofold: to fulfil the missions of collecting, analysing, and disseminating information on housing, and to assist the Ministère du Logement et de l’Aménagement du territoire in the planning of housing policy. The Observatoire de l’Habitat is specifically responsible for monitoring property prices, rents, and land prices. It is also in charge of analysing land dynamics in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg by conducting a census of residential building plots and studying housing production dynamics. Furthermore, the Observatoire de l’Habitat examines the socio-economic aspects of housing issues through analyses of housing affordability and the role of public policy in housing costs.

LISER (Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research) is a key partner of the Ministère du Logement et de l’Aménagement du territoire in carrying out the missions of the Observatoire de l’Habitat. As a public research centre, its mission is to conduct fundamental and applied research in the social sciences with the aim of advancing knowledge, informing the actions of public authorities and socio-economic stakeholders, and providing information to society.

LISER Researcher Wins the NPSO/CBS Innovation Prize 2025

LISER is pleased to announce that Daria Dementeva, Research Associate in the GeoAI team, has won the NPSO/CBS Innovation Prize 2025 during the 7th edition of the NPSO Innovation Day, held on 3 December 2025.
