Call for Applications
Overview
After several successful international conferences in Bari, the Department of Economics and Finance of the University of Bari, the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research, the Department of Economics and Law of Sapienza University of Rome, the International Inequalities Institute of the London School of Economics, and the School of Economics and Finance of Queen Mary University of London are launching the first edition of the Inequality and Opportunities Summer School.
The school aims to introduce PhD students and young researchers from around the world to frontier research on economic inequality and related topics. This edition of the school focuses on discrimination and human capital, intergenerational mobility, and inequality and welfare. The lectures are designed to cover both theoretical and empirical aspects of these research areas, while also fostering interaction between participants and invited speakers. Participants are also invited to present their research during a poster session.

Who should apply
The Summer School is primarily intended for PhD students and young researchers in economics and related disciplines. Applications are, however, welcome from anyone interested in the topics, including master’s students and senior scholars.

Please attach the following documents to the email:
- curriculum vitae
- 1–2-page statement describing research interests and current project(s), if any, or a draft paper / extended abstract.
- optional: a brief reference note/email from your supervisor
Fees
The registration fee is €250. The fee includes coffee breaks and lunches. It does not include dinners or accommodation, which must be arranged by participants.
Conference link
The Summer School is scheduled immediately before the international conference “Inequalities and Opportunities” (25-26 June 2026, Bari). Participants are encouraged to attend the conference sessions.
