The Centre is located on the Esch-Belval site, a fast-developing area (urbanisation, private and public tertiary activities) which is a priority for the government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The conversion of the former industrial site at Esch-Belval has created a major project, whose foundation stones have been laid with the help of a programme of key public investments, which includes Research Centres. Hence the Centre is among the first on a site which will eventually accommodate approximately 5000 inhabitants and 20000 daily occupants.
