Abstract
What does participation mean in research? How does research can be a participatory practice? By drawing upon more than ten years of experience in Participatory IT Design and recent research in citizen science, in this seminar I will provide both theoretical and empirical answers to those questions. During the seminar, examples will be drawn from existing literature and large scale research projects, e.g., PIE News/Commonfare, OBAMA-NEXT. In conclusion, suggestions will be provided on what to take into account while setting up an agenda for participatory research.
