LISER launches an innovative networking activity on dynamic microsimulation
Sixteen developers from around the world come together to improve modelling practices and tools
In the scope of the EU-funded InGRID-2 project, a researcher from LISER, Philippe Liégeois, recently launched a 'Special Interest Group” (SIG) on dynamic microsimulation' whose main objective is to reinforce the synergy between developers of dynamic microsimulation models aiming to analyse (for example) the distributional effects of population ageing and the impact of policy amendments in the longer run. The promising networking initiative has also enlisted the help of Vincent Vergnat who is a researcher at both LISER and the University of Luxembourg. Since joining in October 2018, he will help manage the initiative over the next couple of years.
During the second meeting of the SIG in June 2019, organised in Galway/IE, 16 participants from EU (BE, ES, FR, HU, IT, LU, PT, SK & SI) and non-EU (AU, AR & CN) exchanged information about their achievements and needs, while keeping in mind synergies with other LISER activities on dynamic microsimulation in InGRID-2 such as:
- open-community: e-survey for developers, visibility/International Microsimulation Association & International Labour Organisation;
- methods: validation & migration;
- X-support: e-Resource platform for dynamic microsimulation & Mid-term projections
The 3rd meeting of the SIG is expected by early 2020. A 4th and final event will close the SIG by early 2021.
About InGRID
InGRID (http://www.inclusivegrowth.eu/) is a network of distributed, but integrating European research infrastructures. A research infrastructure is a facility or platform that provides the scientific community with resources and services to conduct top-level research in their respective fields. InGRID research infrastructures serve the social sciences community that wants to make an evidence-based contribution to a European policy strategy of inclusive growth.
This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 730998
